Yasi Hofer, whose full name is Yasmin Ines Hofer (born 25 October 1992 in Ulm), is a German guitarist and singer. Yasi Hofer with her band. Yasi Hofer began playing the violin at a young age and switched to the electric guitar at the age of twelve. Through her guitar teacher at the time, she was introduced to the music and playing techniques of Steve Vai, which she then practiced for up to ten hours a day. When she was 14, Steve Vai recognized her talent and invited her on stage during a concert at the Ulmer Zelt, where they performed the Vai song Answers together. Further guest appearances across Europe followed.
At the age of 15, she began her music studies at the Stuttgart University of Music and continued them after three semesters at the Berklee College of Music. In 2008, she released the CD Sounds Like Vai, containing five tracks, on the Ulm-based label Heckmann Sounds (Elmar Karl Heckmann).
While studying at Berklee College, Hofer worked on her album Yasi, which was released in January 2014 on 36music, the label of drummer and producer Jürgen Schlachter. The album features contributions from musicians such as Hellmut Hattler and Philip Bynoe. In February 2014, she began her debut tour through Germany.
In December 2016, her second 36music album Faith was released, representing a musical evolution with new elements. Guest musicians such as Marco Minnemann and again Hellmut Hattler contributed to the recordings. Afterwards, Hofer toured Europe with her band.
On 10 January 2019, the album Freedom was released, on which Hofer, unlike on her previous albums, completely dispensed with guest musicians and keyboards. In February 2023, her fourth studio album Between the Lines was released.
