Micheal Schenker

Michael Schenker (born 10 January 1955) is a German guitarist best known for his work with UFO, the Michael Schenker Group (MSG), and as an early member of the Scorpions, the band co‑founded by his older brother Rudolf Schenker. In the mid‑1970s he joined UFO as both lead and rhythm guitarist, remaining with them until 1978. After leaving the band, he briefly returned to the Scorpions to record Lovedrive before launching MSG. Over the years he has rejoined UFO three separate times, contributing a new album on each occasion. Schenker continues to record and tour, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential guitarists of the 1970s — often described as a legendary figure in the history of metal guitar. Schenker began playing guitar at the age of nine, inspired when Rudolf received a Gibson Flying V — an instrument that immediately captured his imagination. His early influences included Jimmy Page, George Harrison, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Leslie West, Johnny Winter, Steve Marriott, and Rory Gallagher. He performed his first live show at age eleven, appearing with Rudolf and the Scorpions at a nightclub. At sixteen, he played on the Scorpions’ debut album Lonesome Crow. After the album’s release, the Scorpions opened for the rising British band UFO during a German tour.
