Noveller

Noveller is the musical project of American composer and guitarist Sarah Lipstate, known for her innovative approach to creating expansive, cinematic soundscapes. Using the electric guitar as her primary instrument, she has developed a distinctive style built on intricate layering, extensive use of effects pedals and a strong sense of texture. Her work has been described as crafting compact “mini‑symphonies,” marked by vivid atmospheres and detailed sonic narratives. Lipstate’s ability to generate unique timbres and immersive environments has made her a sought‑after collaborator. She has co‑written music with Iggy Pop and performed as part of his touring band, and has worked with artists including JG Thirlwell, Lee Ranaldo, Rhys Chatham, Nick Zinner, Ben Frost and Glenn Branca. She has also toured in support of acts such as St. Vincent, Wire, U.S. Girls, The Jesus Lizard and Helium. Her interest in sound design and equipment has led to a strong presence in the world of guitar technology. Through videos and demonstrations shared online, she has built a dedicated following of musicians and listeners curious about her methods. This visibility has resulted in features in magazines, documentaries and gear‑focused media. With the release of Arrow, Lipstate further expanded her musical vocabulary, presenting an album that challenges expectations while appealing to her growing audience. Her work under the Noveller name continues to be recognized for its originality, emotional depth and forward‑thinking approach to guitar‑based composition.
