Linkin Park

Linkin Park is an American rock band formed in 1996 in Agoura Hills, California. The current lineup features Mike Shinoda (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Brad Delson (lead guitar), Joe Hahn (DJ/turntables), Dave Farrell (bass), Emily Armstrong (vocals) and Colin Brittain (drums). For the band’s first seven studio albums, the lineup included vocalist Chester Bennington and drummer Rob Bourdon. After Bennington’s death in 2017, the group went on a seven‑year hiatus, during which Bourdon also stepped away. In September 2024, the band announced its return with the addition of Armstrong and Brittain. Often categorized as alternative rock and nu metal, Linkin Park’s early sound blended heavy metal with hip‑hop elements, while their later work incorporated more electronic and pop‑driven influences. The band achieved worldwide success with their debut album Hybrid Theory (2000), which was certified Diamond by the RIAA. Released at the height of the nu‑metal movement, the album’s singles — including “One Step Closer,” “Crawling,” and “In the End” — received heavy rotation on MTV and charted strongly on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart.
