In a world increasingly revolving around DJs and techno beats, it’s a breath of fresh air to watch and listen to the musically experienced members of the band “Bas Paardekooper.” Born in Scheveningen, Bas was born and raised on music. His father played the accordion, and his son experimented on drums, piano, trumpet, accordion, and saxophone. All very nice, but his greatest musical passion was the guitar he received for his 12th birthday. Now he has a Fender Stratocaster that he plays his songs on. Bas took lessons from Ted Oberg of the Livin’ Blues at 14 and played in various cover bands in the years that followed. In 2007, it was time to start his own band and record albums of his own songs, and so it happened. At Tivoly Vredenburg, Bas was unanimously nominated by the professional jury of The Dutch Blues Foundation as Best Dutch Blues Musician 2024.
