Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster

Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster is a London‑based instrumental progressive metal and post‑rock band formed in 2008. The group originated from the collaboration of guitarists Drew Vernon and Adam Paul, bassist Tom Granica, drummer Alex Rainbow and vocalist‑synth player Dylan Foucher. From the outset, the band developed a sound that blends atmospheric post‑rock textures with the weight and precision of progressive metal, drawing on influences ranging from Isis and Tool to Pelican, Riverside and Explosions in the Sky. The band’s music is characterised by shifting dynamics, layered guitar work and expansive soundscapes that move between reflective ambience and powerful, riff‑driven climaxes. Elements of glitch, stoner rock and cinematic post‑metal are woven into their compositions, giving the group a distinctive sonic identity within the UK progressive scene. Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster released their debut album Collapse in 2009, an entirely instrumental work recorded with a strong DIY ethos to preserve the raw intention of the material. Their second album, Exegesis, appeared in 2012 and received widespread acclaim for its intricate structures and immersive atmosphere. The band’s approach combines technical musicianship with a focus on mood, narrative flow and emotional impact, making them accessible to a broad audience of progressive and post‑rock listeners.
