Soen

Soen is a Swedish progressive metal band formed in 2010. The current lineup features vocalist Joel Ekelöf, guitarist Cody Lee Ford, bassist Stefan Stenberg, drummer Martin Lopez, and keyboardist Lars Åhlund. Signed to Silver Lining Music, the band has released seven studio albums, with their latest record, Reliance, arriving on 16 January 2026. Although the earliest version of the project dates back to 2004, Soen was officially introduced to the public in May 2010. The founding lineup brought together former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez, renowned bassist Steve Di Giorgio (Death, Testament, Sadus), vocalist Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree), and guitarist Joakim Platbarzdis. The band shared their first track, “Fraccions,” on their website in October 2010, offering an early glimpse of their atmospheric and rhythm‑driven sound. Their debut music video, “Savia,” followed in February 2012 via their Facebook page. Subsequent videos included an intimate acoustic rendition of “Ideate” and a visual release for “Delenda.” Over the years, Soen has developed a distinctive identity within progressive metal — blending emotional depth, dynamic songwriting, and a strong melodic core — steadily building an international following with each new release.
