Samantha Fish (born January 30, 1989) is an American guitarist and singer‑songwriter from Kansas City, Missouri. Although often cited as a blues artist, her work spans multiple genres, including rock, country, funk, bluegrass and ballads. She has received several awards, including two Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Blues Album: one for her 2023 collaboration with Jesse Dayton, Death Wish Blues, and another for her 2025 album Paper Doll. Fish grew up in the Kansas City area. She began playing drums before switching to guitar at age 15. Her mother directed a local church choir, and her father played guitar with friends. Early musical influences included Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Ray Vaughan; later she discovered Tom Petty and The Rolling Stones, citing the Stones’ Sticky Fingers as an important early influence. Both she and her sister were drawn to blues music during their teenage years. Fish frequently visited Knuckleheads Saloon to hear touring blues artists. After turning 18, she often joined singers and bands onstage during their performances. In 2009, Fish recorded and produced Live Bait. The live album attracted the attention of a talent company, which recommended her to Ruf Records.
