Formed in 1993, Texas Flood began as a tribute to the late Texas blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan. What started as a homage gradually evolved into a band with a much broader musical reach, expanding its repertoire to include a wide range of blues and rock classics. By the late 1990s, the group began introducing original material into its shows, leading to the release of the first Paul Kype and Texas Flood album, Get It In Ya, in 2003. Their original songs have received Canadian radio airplay and have become highlights of their live performances. Texas Flood’s blend of familiar covers and strong original material continues to win over audiences across Canada. Their tight musicianship and energetic stage presence appeal to listeners of all ages. Younger guitar fans are often captivated by Paul Kype’s command of the instrument, while long‑time blues and rock listeners appreciate the band’s powerful delivery and deep respect for the genre.
