Elder

Elder is an American rock band formed in the mid‑2000s in a small coastal town in Massachusetts. Over the course of seven studio albums, the group has evolved from its origins in the stoner and doom metal scene into one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary underground rock. Elder is known for long‑form compositions that blend elements from 1970s progressive rock, heavy psychedelia and modern experimental styles, often unfolding as extended musical journeys. Across two decades, Elder has built a reputation for absorbing a wide range of influences while maintaining a recognizable identity. Their music incorporates: heavy, riff‑driven foundations, melodic and progressive structures, psychedelic textures, atmospheric and exploratory passages. This stylistic flexibility has allowed the band to expand beyond genre boundaries without losing coherence or falling into imitation. The album Through Zero marks a renewed commitment to pushing the limits of heavy and psychedelic rock. Drawing on years of experience, the record presents some of the band’s most direct and engaging material while integrating new textures and ideas from outside traditional rock frameworks. Familiar elements—crushing riffs, hypnotic grooves, progressive arrangements and expansive atmospheres—are combined with fresh sonic details that reveal themselves over repeated listens.
