Comedy of Errors is a progressive rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, originally formed in 1984. The group first set out to create music rooted in progressive‑rock traditions, later incorporating more direct rock elements into their sound. After a long period of inactivity, the band reunited in 2011 and released the album Disobey. They returned again with Fanfare & Fantasy in 2023. Their music is noted for combining classical influences with contemporary rock, emphasizing strong musicianship and dynamic arrangements. Emerging in Glasgow during the mid‑1980s—a period when progressive rock had largely moved outside mainstream attention—Comedy of Errors developed an approach that treated the genre as an evolving compositional form rather than a nostalgic revival. Their work focused on clarity, structure and thematic coherence, drawing from symphonic and melodic traditions while adopting modern production techniques. From the beginning, the band emphasized intention and control in their writing. Instead of relying on excess or extended displays of virtuosity, they aimed to create music that balanced complexity with emotional focus. This approach allowed them to craft pieces that were both accessible and intricately constructed.
