Monte Montgomery

Monte Montgomery (born August 11, 1966) is an American guitarist and singer‑songwriter known for his inventive acoustic style and high‑energy performances. He earned widespread recognition in Austin, Texas, where he was named Best Acoustic Guitarist for seven consecutive years at the South by Southwest music event. His national profile grew further after an appearance on PBS’s Austin City Limits in April 1999. Beyond performing, Montgomery has composed music for film and television, including the crime drama Arc (2006) and the ABC series Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen. In 2004, Alvarez Guitars introduced the MMY1 Monte Montgomery Signature model, inspired by his well‑worn 1987 Alvarez‑Yairi DY62C acoustic‑electric guitar.
