The band 2066 & Then chose their unusual name by adding a thousand years to the date of the Battle of Hastings (1066). The group featured an international and multi‑instrumental line‑up: Geff Harrison (lead vocals, from England), Gagey Mrozeck (guitars), Steve Robinson and Veit Marvos (organ, electric piano, vibes, synthesizer, mellotron, vocals), Dieter Bauer (bass) and Konstatin Bommarius (drums). Their existence was brief — from spring 1971 until the summer of 1972 — but their impact on early German progressive rock was significant. Their only album, Reflections on the Future (1972), recorded in autumn 1971 at Dierks Studio in Stommeln near Cologne, has since become regarded as a cult classic. The record contains five long, heavy progressive rock tracks with a dramatic atmosphere and a distinctly German character. The opening piece, “At My Home,” sets the tone with its fast tempo, powerful guitar work, swirling Hammond organ and Geff Harrison’s soulful, expressive vocals. The following track, “Autumn,” introduces themes of decay, mortality and the passage of time — lyrics that anticipated ideas later explored by Pink Floyd in “Time.”
