Harvest

Harvest is a Catalan–Dutch progressive rock band formed by vocalist Monique van der Kolk, keyboardist Jordi Amela, and guitarist Jordi Prats. The three musicians had previously worked together in an earlier project and decided to establish a new group after recognizing their shared musical interests and compatible artistic direction. Bassist Roger Vilageliu and drummer Alex Ojea joined a few months later, completing the initial lineup. The band’s creative approach is based on unrestricted artistic freedom, with an emphasis on writing music according to their own preferences rather than commercial considerations. Their style incorporates elements of progressive rock and indie rock, resulting in a sound characterized by melodic emphasis, atmospheric arrangements, and emotional expression. In 2009, Harvest completed their debut album Underground Community, released later that year. The record features twelve original compositions and a cover of Marillion’s “Waiting to Happen,” selected because Marillion is a group appreciated by all members of the band. Harvest describes itself as a Catalan–Dutch collaboration shaped by the diverse musical backgrounds of its members. Their combined influences contribute to a distinctive sound that blends progressive structures with accessible melodic elements.
