Sound of Contact is a British‑based progressive rock band whose lineup has included Matt Dorsey (guitars, bass) and Dave Kerzner (keyboards, guitars), with Simon Collins (lead vocals, drums, percussion) and Kelly Nordstrom (guitars, bass) as former members. The band was formed in 2009 and released its debut album in May 2013. Co‑founders Simon Collins and Dave Kerzner first met in New York during rehearsals for Genesis in 2006. While Genesis was on the Turn It On Again tour in 2007, Collins, Kerzner and Kelly Nordstrom recorded a cover of the 1981 Genesis track “Keep It Dark” as a tribute to Collins’ father, Phil Collins. Collins continued working with Kerzner and Nordstrom on his 2008 solo album U‑Catastrophe, where both contributed as songwriters and performers. Collins met Matt Dorsey through their record label while assembling a touring band for the U‑Catastrophe tour. Nordstrom had already collaborated with Collins for several years, contributing to his 2005 album Time for Truth as well as U‑Catastrophe. In 2009, Collins approached Kerzner with the idea of forming a full band. With Nordstrom and Dorsey joining, the group began work on their first project in Miami, Florida, resulting in the debut album Dimensionaut. Shortly after the album’s release, Nordstrom left the band due to family commitments.
