Charm of Finches is an Australian sister duo whose intricate indie‑folk blends grace with a dark, spellbinding edge. Their close “blood harmonies” move between melancholy and wonder, giving their music a distinctive emotional depth. Sisters Mabel and Ivy Windred‑Wornes, now based in Scotland, have toured widely across Australia, the UK, Europe and Canada since forming the project in 2014. Their fourth studio album, Marlinchen in the Snow, was recorded in rural Nova Scotia with Canadian producer Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Good Lovelies). The record draws inspiration from the frozen landscapes around them, the Grimm fairy tales they grew up with, and the transient life they lead while touring. The duo’s new single, “Meteor,” reflects on the powerful forces of nature as a mirror for inner turbulence. Recorded by the ocean in Victoria, Australia and mixed in Canada, the track marks the beginning of a series of releases planned for 2026. Charm of Finches have earned multiple accolades, including Best Folk Album at the Australian Folk Music Awards (2022) and Best Folk Act at the Music Victoria Awards (2021). They have also been nominated twice for the Australian Music Prize.
