Mick Kolassa

“Michissippi Mick” Kolassa is a blues musician whose life bridges Michigan, Mississippi, and Memphis. Although he now lives in Michigan, he spent more than thirty years in the Deep South, where he earned the nickname that blends his two musical homes. Over the years he has performed in both acoustic and full‑band settings, bringing his blues to renowned venues such as Ground Zero, The Rum Boogie Café, Biscuits and Blues, Martha’s Midway Tavern, The Bradfordville Blues Club, Darwin’s, Blind Willie’s, Underground 119, The Capitol Oyster Bar, the National Blues Museum, and many others. His touring history also includes numerous blues festivals across North America and Europe. Each of Mick’s albums has received strong radio support and chart recognition, reflecting his ability to move comfortably through different shades of the blues. Rather than staying within one style, he embraces the full spectrum of the genre — and he enjoys uncovering the blues hidden inside songs from completely different musical worlds. He calls these reinterpretations his “uncovers,” reshaping familiar material with a blues sensibility while celebrating the music he loves.
