A Dot in the Sky is an ambient‑post‑rock band from Kolkata, West Bengal, India, formed in the summer of 2016. The project grew out of a shared fascination with atmospheric sound design and slow‑burning instrumental storytelling. The band approaches ambient music as an open field for experimentation, shaping their sound around texture, mood, and the emotional weight of minimalism. Rather than following a fixed formula, they treat each piece as its own exploration, guided by the core principles of the genre and their own evolving interpretation of it. Their work features vocals in both Bengali and English, blending regional identity with a broader, international post‑rock sensibility. The result is a sound that feels intimate yet expansive, rooted in place but reaching far beyond it.
