Kepler Ten is a British progressive‑rock and melodic‑metal trio that originally began as a Rush tribute project. As the musicians developed their own material, the group shifted toward writing original songs and signed with White Star Records—the label founded by John Mitchell (Frost*, It Bites)—in 2016. Their debut album, Delta‑V, was released in 2017. Despite later lineup changes, the band completed a second studio album scheduled for release in 2020. Kepler Ten’s sound blends heavy rock and progressive elements, drawing influence from artists such as Queensrÿche, Van Halen, Rush and Muse. The band returned with their third release, Random Number Generator: Episode 1, issued on 26 September 2025 through White Star Records. Conceived as the first entry in a planned digital‑only series, the album explores a science‑fiction narrative created by drummer Steve Hales, focusing on themes of escapism, identity and addiction in a near‑future world where virtual and physical realities overlap. The lineup for this period features: James Durand — vocals, bass, keyboards, Alistair Bell — guitars, Steve Hales — drums, concept and narrative. The album contains six cinematic tracks, including “Lost in the Binary,” “Fracture” and “SuperVoid.” While rooted in the band’s early Rush‑inspired origins, the release presents a more distinct and modern progressive‑rock identity, combining technical precision with strong storytelling.
