Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel (born 28 October 1980) is a Danish singer, songwriter and musician currently based in Berlin. Her debut album Philharmonics (2010), released through PIAS Recordings, became a commercial success and was certified gold by the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA) in June 2011 after selling 10,000 copies. At the Danish Music Awards later that year, Obel received five awards, including Best Album and Best Debut Artist. Her second album, Aventine (2013), was met with positive reviews and reached the top 40 in nine countries. Obel’s third album, Citizen of Glass (2016), was widely praised by critics and won the 2016 IMPALA Album of the Year Award. In 2018 she curated and contributed to a compilation for the Late Night Tales series, featuring music by artists such as Nina Simone, Henry Mancini, Ray Davies, Michelle Gurevich, Can and Yello. Her fourth studio album, Myopia, followed in February 2020.
