Native Construct is a progressive metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed by a group of young musicians who met while studying at the Berklee College of Music. The project began in 2011 as a collaboration between several students who shared an interest in combining modern metal with advanced composition and theatrical elements. The band’s core line‑up features guitarist and primary composer Myles Yang, vocalist Robert Edens, and bassist Max Harchik. From the outset, Native Construct set out to push the boundaries of contemporary metal by drawing on a wide range of influences, including classical music, progressive metal, and musical theatre. Their sound blends extended‑range guitars, dramatic vocal arrangements and dense layers of orchestral and electronic instrumentation. In 2014, the band’s early material attracted the attention of Brian Slagel at Metal Blade Records, leading to a recording contract and the worldwide release of their debut album Quiet World in 2015. The album was largely written and developed between 2011 and 2013, during breaks in the members’ studies at Berklee. What began as informal jam sessions gradually evolved into a fully realized studio project.
