Debbie Davis

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor debbie davies guitaristDebbie Davies is a trailblazing blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose career spans more than three decades on the road. One of the few women who helped open doors for today’s generation of female guitarists, she has earned widespread respect for her powerful playing, soulful vocals, and strong songwriting. Since the early 1980s she has been a leading figure in contemporary blues, receiving ten Blues Music Award nominations and winning major honors including Best Contemporary Female Blues Artist and the Koko Taylor Award.

Raised in a musical household, Davies was surrounded by jazz, vocal groups, and classic pop, but it was the bluesier edge of her father’s Ray Charles records that captured her imagination. By age twelve she knew the guitar—not the piano—was her true voice. Growing up in 1960s Los Angeles, she pushed past the era’s expectations that girls should only play acoustic instruments, inspired by the electric fire of British blues‑rock and especially Eric Clapton’s work with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. With determination and a rebellious artistic spirit, she forged a path that made her one of the most respected blues guitarists of her generation.
