The Re-Stoned

The Re‑Stoned is a Russian instrumental rock project founded in 2008 by guitarist Ilya Lipkin. Conceived as a vehicle for Lipkin’s interest in fuzz‑driven tones, psychedelic improvisation and heavy rock traditions, the group began with informal jam sessions featuring Lipkin alongside musicians Romanov and Volnov. Their early work resulted in the Return to Reptiles EP (2009), followed by the debut full‑length Revealed Gravitation in 2010. During this period, the band performed selectively across Russia while steadily developing a dedicated underground following. Between 2010 and 2012, The Re‑Stoned released a series of albums that established their signature blend of psychedelic rock, stoner elements and classic hard‑rock influences. These included Analog and Plasma, as well as the live album Vermel and the studio‑live EP Re‑Session. In 2011, the band toured the United Kingdom for the first time and appeared at the Redburn Festival in Moscow. Lipkin has described the project as a deliberate return to the music he most enjoyed playing and listening to. This approach, rooted in vintage rock aesthetics without strict stylistic boundaries, attracted listeners from across the classic‑rock, blues‑rock, psychedelic‑rock, doom and stoner‑rock communities. Throughout its existence, The Re‑Stoned has undergone multiple lineup changes while maintaining Lipkin as its central creative force. The band has released nine full‑length studio albums through various independent labels, including R.A.I.G., Nasoni, Clostridium Records, Headspin Records and Oak Island Records.
