Deep Imagination

DEEP IMAGINATION is a German music project created by Thorsten Sudler‑Mainz in 2005 in Frankfurt am Main. Initially conceived as a side project to Art of Infinity, it gradually developed into his primary artistic outlet. Sudler‑Mainz uses the project to explore his personal interpretations of ambient electronica, art rock and, in later years, darkwave. Over time, DEEP IMAGINATION shifted from atmospheric ambient soundscapes toward darker, gothic‑influenced textures. This direction culminated in the 2023 album The Children of the Moon, a work that reflects Sudler‑Mainz’s renewed interest in gothic rock and darkwave, reconnecting with musical influences from his early years in the 1980s. The project is also known for its strong visual component. In recent years, DEEP IMAGINATION has released a series of well‑received video clips that complement the project’s atmospheric sound. The upcoming album Come to My Pretty Little Garden (2026) draws inspiration from neoclassical darkwave and 1980s post‑punk aesthetics, and includes a reinterpretation of the Dead Can Dance track “Anywhere Out of the World.” Since 2004, Sudler‑Mainz’s work has been released through the Munich‑based label BSC Music/Prudence. Between 2005 and 2017, DEEP IMAGINATION issued four albums and four EPs, establishing a sound often compared to the atmospheric and psychedelic qualities of Pink Floyd.
