Dilemma is a modern progressive‑rock band from the Netherlands, active since the late 1990s and known for combining technical musicianship with melodic songwriting. The group will release its third full‑length album, The Purpose Paradox, on 20 September, marking their first new studio work in nearly six years. The concept album runs for more than 60 minutes and will be available on CD, double vinyl and all major streaming platforms through Butler Records, a division of V2 Records. The album features nine new compositions ranging from concise four‑minute pieces to an extended track approaching sixteen minutes. Musically, the record presents a broader and more intense version of Dilemma’s sound—faster, heavier and more progressive than before. With the arrival of vocalist Jermain van der Bogt (Wudstik), the band introduces a rawer and more varied vocal approach, contributing to a renewed sense of energy. As with the previous album, production was handled by drummer Collin Leijenaar, who also collaborated with Los Angeles engineer Rich Mouser on mixing and mastering. Their long‑standing partnership gives the album a polished and expansive sonic character. Dilemma was formed in the late 1990s and released its debut album Imbroccata in 1996 through SI Music/Roadrunner Records. The album received strong reviews and developed a cult following, particularly in Japan. After this early success, the band entered a long period of inactivity. In 2018, Dilemma returned with the album Random Acts of Liberation, marking a significant comeback. The release was met with enthusiastic responses from both critics and fellow musicians, including Neal Morse, Arjen Lucassen, and Mike Portnoy. Dutch progressive‑rock magazine iO Pages named it Album of the Year.
