Jackie Venson (born February 5, 1990) is an American singer‑songwriter and guitarist from Austin, Texas. A graduate of Berklee College of Music (class of 2011), she has established herself as a prominent figure in modern blues, soul, and indie guitar music. Venson has released five studio albums: Joy (2019), Love Transcends (2021), Evolution of Joy (2023), Ghost in the Machine (2023), and The Love Anthology (2025). Her discography also includes six live albums: Live at Strange Brew (2016), Live in Texas (2020), Jackie Venson Live at Austin City Limits, Joy Alive (2021), Love Transcends: Live in Austin (2022), and Ghost Live (2024). In addition to her work as a guitarist and vocalist, Venson performs electronic music under the DJ alias “jackie the robot,” releasing projects that explore beat‑driven and experimental sound design. Venson was born and raised in Austin, Texas, the youngest of nine children. Her father, Andrew Venson, spent four decades as a professional musician, and her mother, Dr. Diane Brinkman, encouraged her to begin piano lessons at age eight. Venson has described her early musical development as slow and demanding, noting that it took several years before she could coordinate both hands on the piano and even longer before she could practice for extended periods. Over time, she developed the discipline required for professional musicianship, eventually reaching the ability to practice for multiple hours at a time. Venson cites her father as one of her most significant influences, both musically and personally.
