Circles End

Circles End is a Norwegian progressive rock band whose music blends elements of jazz, post‑rock and classic prog. The group originated in 1994 under the name Venture, later performing as Plethora for their first live appearance in 1996. A few months later, as the band began writing new material with the intention of recording a full release, they adopted the name Circles End, which has remained their identity ever since. In the summer of 1998, with the assistance of a guest keyboardist, the band entered a local studio and recorded five original tracks. These sessions became their self‑titled debut EP, released independently in August 1998. A demo followed in 1999, during a period of lineup changes that brought in a new vocalist and bassist, along with contributions from another guest keyboardist. This phase led to the development of new material for their first full‑length album. The band released their debut album, In Dialogue with the Moon, independently in early 2001. The record was well received within the progressive rock community, helping establish Circles End as a promising act in the Norwegian prog scene. Their second album, Hang On to That Kite, arrived in 2004 through the Norwegian label Karisma Records, further refining their blend of atmospheric and jazz‑tinged progressive rock. Since the release of their second album, Circles End have performed only occasionally, and overall activity has been limited. Despite this quieter period, the band has continued to work on new ideas and has demo recordings of unreleased material that they intend to develop for a future release.
