Teresa James & The Rhythm Tramps

Teresa James is known for her warm, soulful voice and the Texas‑flavored edge she brings to her music. Together with her band, the Rhythm Tramps, she has long been one of Los Angeles’ standout contemporary blues acts. Although rooted in blues, their sound often stretches beyond the traditional 12‑bar form, shaped by the inventive songwriting of bassist and producer Terry Wilson, her longtime musical partner. Their 2019 album Here in Babylon earned a Grammy nomination in the Contemporary Blues category. Their latest release, Rose-Colored Glasses, continues to build on that reputation. It marks their twelfth album and highlights Teresa’s expressive vocal style alongside Terry’s songwriting and production. The record features contributions from several respected Texas guitar players, including Anson Funderburgh, Lee Roy Parnell, Johnny Lee Schell, Snuffy Walden, and Dean Parks. Teresa describes the album as leaning more toward soul, while still grounded in the emotional honesty that defines her approach to the blues.
