Tale Of Diffusion

Tale of Diffusion is a Polish instrumental rock group formed in 2002. The band was founded by Bartek Florczak (guitar), Tomek Pawlikowski (bass) and Radek Malinowski (drums), musicians who had previously played together in another project. The lineup was completed when Michał Szmidt (guitar) joined shortly after the group’s formation. From the outset, the band focused on developing its own sound, emphasizing atmosphere, texture and extended instrumental structures. Their music draws on a wide range of influences and is often described as open‑form, with flowing, evolving arrangements rather than traditional song formats. Two early demo tracks, recorded at Mariusz Pikor’s “On The Roof” Studio, were broadcast on Polish Radio during the program “Night of Soundscapes” hosted by Piotr Kosiński. In November 2006, Tale of Diffusion made their debut on Piotr Kaczkowski’s long‑running and influential radio show Minimax, further increasing their visibility within the Polish progressive‑rock community. The band performed regularly in Pabianice and Łódź, including several audiovisual shows at the Hilus student club. These performances combined spatial, atmospheric music with projected imagery, reflecting the group’s interest in multimedia expression rather than conventional rock concerts.
