Raven Sad is an Italian progressive rock project founded in 2005 by guitarist and composer Samuele Santanna. From the outset, the aim was to craft emotionally evocative music by combining elements of folk, neo‑progressive rock, and psychedelic influences with electronic textures and ambient soundscapes. In de eerste jaren functioneerde Raven Sad voornamelijk als een soloproject, waarbij Santanna samenwerkte met verschillende gastmuzikanten. Between 2008 and 2011, the project released three studio albums through the Italian label Lizard Records: Quoth (2008), We Are Not Alone (2009), and Layers of Stratosphere (2011). With the release of the third album, Raven Sad transitioned from a one‑person creative vehicle into a fully formed four‑piece band, marking a shift toward a more collective musical identity.
