Lesoir is a five‑piece band from Maastricht, Netherlands, founded in 2009, that has steadily built an international following. In 2019 they joined Riverside for a five‑week European tour, a collaboration that significantly expanded their visibility. Their self‑released album Mosaic, issued in partnership with Glassville Records, was met with strong critical reception and appeared on several year‑end lists. Plans for a 20‑date headline tour in 2020 were halted by the pandemic. In response, the band created Babel, a 20‑minute‑and‑20‑second composition released as a handmade etched vinyl in a limited run of 250 copies, which sold out within four weeks. The project included a unique live recording and an animated short film by Crystal Spotlight, known for work with Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson. Lesoir has been praised for their on‑stage chemistry and their distinctive blend of melodic hooks and dynamic songwriting. In December 2022, the band began work on their sixth album, Push Back the Horizon. The new album was produced by John Cornfield, whose credits include Muse and Kashmir. Vocal production was handled by Paul Reeve, long associated with Matt Bellamy of Muse. Instrumental tracks were recorded at the Muziekgieterij in Maastricht, while the vocal sessions took place in the United Kingdom. Mastering was completed by Steve Kitch, keyboardist of The Pineapple Thief.
