Apairys is a French progressive rock band formed from the remnants of two earlier groups, Maldoror and Saens. The project took shape after the dissolution of Maldoror in 2014, during the writing sessions for what would have been their second album. At that time, drummer and keyboardist Silvain Goillot decided to continue developing the material he had already recorded and began searching for new collaborators. His call was answered by Benoît Campedel, former guitarist of Saens, which had disbanded in 2004. The two musicians reworked the existing compositions together and later invited Christophe Bellières, vocalist of Maldoror, to join the project. With this trio in place, Apairys was officially formed. All three members are multi‑instrumentalists, contributing a broad range of musical elements to the band’s sound. In 2019, Apairys self‑released their debut album Vers La Lumière, a work rooted in heavy symphonic progressive rock. While the music carries echoes of Maldoror’s style, it also establishes a distinct identity, blending weighty arrangements with melodic and atmospheric passages.
