Drifting sun

Drifting Sun is a UK‑based progressive rock band whose music is characterized by dramatic arrangements, theatrical presentation and atmospheric soundscapes. Their style draws on elements associated with classic progressive rock, with influences ranging from Dream Theater and Queensrÿche to Genesis and Jethro Tull. The band traces its origins to the early 1990s, when French musicians Pat Sanders (keyboards) and Manu Sibona (bass) relocated to the United Kingdom. Initially performing under the name Drama, they soon connected with American vocalist Rafe Pomeroy. Early recordings produced in a London studio were submitted to the French label Musea, which released the band’s self‑titled debut album in 1996 through its Brennus imprint. Guitarist Karl Groom contributed to one of the tracks. After several years of activity, Drifting Sun entered a long hiatus between 1999 and 2013. The band reformed in 2014, with keyboardist and composer Pat Sanders leading a renewed lineup. Over the following decade, Drifting Sun evolved into a stable and experienced ensemble crafting modern, dynamic progressive rock with a strong melodic focus. Drifting Sun has released eight studio albums, each expanding on their blend of atmospheric textures, expressive vocals and theatrical arrangements. Their work has attracted attention from progressive rock listeners and specialist music publications worldwide.
