Gammalon

Gammalon is a progressive rock project from the United States, noted for its atmospheric sound and visually striking album artwork. The project first gained attention with the album Into the Half Light, originally released several years ago and reissued more recently, coinciding with the development of new material for an upcoming release. Although Gammalon is presented as a trio—Peter Shen (guitars, keyboards), Elena (bass, keyboards), and Gregor Elligsohn (drums, percussion, sound effects)—the project is in fact the work of a single musician. Behind these names stands Chris Scholtes, an American guitarist known for his role in the Several Species Pink Floyd Experience. Scholtes performs all instruments on the recordings, handling guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, and additional sound design himself. The project’s online presence maintains the fictional ensemble, but further research reveals Scholtes as the sole creative force. Photographs of his live performances with other groups confirm his identity and background. Gammalon’s music blends progressive rock, ambient textures, and cinematic soundscapes, with Into the Half Light serving as a showcase for Scholtes’ multi‑instrumental abilities and studio craftsmanship.
