Frequency Drift is a progressive rock band from Bayreuth, Germany, founded by classically trained keyboardist and multi‑instrumentalist Andreas Hack. The group became known for its cinematic sound, atmospheric arrangements and a strong emphasis on storytelling. The band released its debut album, Personal Effects Pt. 1, in 2008 through Musea Records. Conceived as a concept work, the album tells a tragic futuristic tale centered on two sisters, drawing inspiration from visually rich science‑fiction films such as Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell. Its follow‑up, Personal Effects Pt. 2, appeared in 2009 on the Cyclops label and further developed the band’s characteristic blend of emotional melodies, detailed arrangements and immersive sound design. In 2011, Frequency Drift issued Ghosts…, an album that marked the emergence of the lineup that would define the group’s later sound. With its mixture of progressive rock, ambient textures and cinematic influences, the release strengthened the band’s reputation for creating evocative, narrative‑driven music.
