Tangerine Stoned is an Italian psychedelic rock band formed in the summer of 2011 by guitarist Alex Key and vocalist Chris Jei. Their initial aim was to revive the sound and spirit of late‑1960s psychedelic rock, drawing inspiration from artists such as Pink Floyd, The Doors, Cream, The Seeds and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. To complete the lineup, the founders recruited Danièl (bass), Verner (keyboards) and Checco (drums). The group immediately began writing original material shaped by the acid‑rock aesthetics of their influences. In late 2012, Tangerine Stoned entered the studio to record their self‑titled debut album, Tangerine Stoned, which was released in May 2013. During this period, the band underwent lineup changes: after the departure of Verner and Alex Key, guitarist J. Barto joined, and the keyboard role was handled by an external collaborator. Following further personnel shifts — including the exit of Checco and the arrival of Bobby, later replaced by Fab “Gallo” on drums — the band moved toward what they described as a “modern classic sound”, blending vintage psychedelic elements with contemporary rock textures. The evolution continued with the return of Checco on drums. After Alex Key’s departure, the band incorporated keyboardist Luca as an external member, solidifying the updated musical direction. On 29 February 2016, Tangerine Stoned released their first fully self‑produced album, Delitti Scoperti. The band has since continued performing throughout Italy and preparing new material, with plans for additional releases and a European tour.
