Crucis was an Argentine band regarded as one of the pioneers of Argentine progressive rock. Crucis was formed in 1974 by Gustavo Montesano (guitar, vocals), José Luis Fernández (bass), Daniel Leonardo Frenkel (drums) and Daniel Oil (keyboards). After Fernández left the group, Montesano switched to bass. The line‑up later expanded with the arrival of Marrone and Kerpel. In 1975 Frenkel departed and was replaced by Farrugia. The band released two albums: Crucis in 1976—produced by Charly García, who at the time was highly prominent in Argentina following the breakup of Sui Generis—and Los Delirios del Mariscal in 1977. Crucis disbanded shortly after the second album’s release. Both LPs were reissued together in 1996 on a single CD titled Cronología. Some editions include two bonus tracks recorded in 1977 for a planned single that never materialized. Crucis also performed on Montesano’s first solo album Homenaje that same year. Montesano later joined the successful Spanish pop group Olé Olé.
