De Dijk

De Dijk originated from Stampei, a funk group founded in 1975 in Krommeniedijk. Stampei released only one single, Blij dat het morgen maandag is (1979), but the band attracted little attention and disbanded after seven years. In 1981, former members and brothers Hans and Huub van der Lubbe formed the rock ’n’ roll band Big Shot and His Rocking Guns. That same year, together with former Stampei guitarist Nico Arzbach, they also co‑founded the pop group De Dijk. Their first performance took place on 1 October 1981, when they opened for Raymond van het Groenewoud at Paradiso in Amsterdam. One year later, the band released their debut album, De Dijk, marking the official start of their long-running career.
