Lunatic Soul

Lunatic Soul is the solo project of Polish musician Mariusz Duda, known for his central role in the progressive rock band Riverside, where he serves as vocalist, bassist, lyricist and principal composer. Duda launched Lunatic Soul in 2008 as an independent creative platform intended to explore musical ideas that differed from his work with Riverside. The project draws on a broad spectrum of influences, including Dead Can Dance, Peter Gabriel’s Passion, Mike Oldfield, Clannad, Hedningarna, and Depeche Mode. Its sound combines ambient and electronic elements with folk‑inspired textures and rock‑based structures. Duda performs the majority of the instrumentation himself, occasionally inviting guest musicians for specific contributions. Although Lunatic Soul is often associated with progressive rock, Duda views it as a distinct artistic domain that offers greater freedom for experimentation and stylistic exploration. He has repeatedly emphasized that the project is not a secondary endeavor, describing it as an equally significant musical world in which he can pursue ideas without constraint.
