First Aid Kit is a Swedish folk duo formed by sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg, born in 1990 and 1993. On stage they expand their sound with a live band that typically includes drums, guitar and keyboards. The pair first gained international attention in 2008 when their homemade YouTube cover of Fleet Foxes’ “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” went viral. Their song “Emmylou” later earned a spot at number 10 on Rolling Stone’s Singles of the Year list in 2012. Over the course of their career, First Aid Kit have released five studio albums, four EPs and numerous singles. Their growing international profile led to Brit Award nominations for Best International Group in 2015, 2019 and 2023. Johanna and Klara Söderberg grew up in Enskede, a district of Stockholm. Their father, Benkt Söderberg, had previously been a member of the Swedish pop‑rock band Lolita Pop before leaving the group and later working as a teacher of history and religion. Their mother works in cinematography, giving the sisters a creative environment from an early age.
