Saving Abel is an American rock band from Corinth, Mississippi, founded in 2004 by Jason Null and Jared Weeks. The band’s name is inspired by the biblical story of Cain and Abel; Jason Null explained: “I Googled the story of Cain and Abel and found a line about ‘there was no saving Abel’, which just jumped out at me.” In 2024, the founding members split into two competing bands, both using the name Saving Abel. Lead guitarist Jason Null and lead singer Jared Weeks began forming Saving Abel in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. Weeks was learning guitar at his best friend’s house when Null — who played in a competing local rock band — walked in to rehearse. They connected immediately and began writing songs together within days. In early 2005, their material caught the attention of producer Skidd Mills, who brought them into his 747 Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, to record several tracks. The band gradually took shape with the addition of rhythm guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Daniel Dwight, and drummer Blake Dixon. Weeks often threw demo CDs onto the stages of larger touring bands passing through Corinth. After nearly a year of shopping their album and following a lineup change — original bassist Daniel Dwight left the group — they recruited bassist and longtime friend Eric Taylor.
