Pacific Sound was a Swiss psychedelic hard rock band that emerged from the music scene of Val‑de‑Travers in the canton of Neuchâtel. Like many young groups in Switzerland during the mid‑1960s, the musicians were initially inspired by the British Invasion, which had swept through Europe and reshaped local youth culture. Countless school and club bands began by performing cover versions of international hits, and Pacific Sound’s early steps followed a similar path. The group took shape when four friends — vocalist Chris Meyer, guitarist and bassist Mark Treuthardt, drummer Diego Lecci and keyboardist Roger Page — rehearsed regularly in their hometown of Môtiers. Although they gained local popularity by playing well‑known songs at dances and small venues, they soon grew dissatisfied with performing only borrowed material. Encouraged by their friend Yves Dubois, who urged them to focus on original music and took on organisational duties for the band, they shifted their direction.
