The Outsiders were a Dutch Nederbeat band from Amsterdam. Their peak popularity in the Netherlands occurred between 1965 and 1967, although they continued releasing records until 1969. In later years, their reputation expanded beyond the Netherlands, and the group is now recognized as a distinctive example of the garage rock genre. The band’s lineup included Wally Tax (vocals), Ronnie Splinter (guitar), Appie Rammers (bass guitar), Tom Krabbendam (guitar), Leendert “Buzz” Busch (drums), and Frank Beek (bass guitar, 1968–1969). The Outsiders were a defining act within Nederbeat, the Dutch interpretation of beat music that emerged in response to the British Invasion. Unlike many European bands influenced primarily by The Beatles, The Outsiders drew inspiration from the rawer sound of British groups such as The Pretty Things—who frequently toured the Netherlands—and The Rolling Stones. The Outsiders opened for the Rolling Stones at their second Dutch concert on 26 March 1966 in ’s‑Hertogenbosch.
