Aperco

Aperco is an Israeli rock band whose music blends classic‑rock foundations with progressive and atmospheric space‑rock elements. The group’s sound draws heavily on the aesthetics of 1970s rock while incorporating modern textures, creating a contrast between light and dark tonalities. Aperco originated as a side project in 2005, when cousins Tom and Tal Maizel began writing and developing material together. As the project evolved, they recognized its potential, and in 2010 they were joined by Yuval Van Der Raz and Yakir Fitousi, solidifying the band’s initial lineup. The group later began working on their debut release, a concept album exploring the emotional and psychological stages of a human life cycle. After an extended studio period, the album — eventually titled The Battle — was released in 2016 to strong critical reception. The record is structured around recurring motifs, with each track representing a distinct emotional or existential phase. Musically, the album is rooted in symphonic progressive rock, enriched by recurring psychedelic elements and atmospheric passages. Before the release of The Battle, the band had also developed an earlier conceptual framework under the working title Between Space and Time, centered on a protagonist confronting inner conflict, personal transformation, and the search for meaning. Although the narrative evolved during production, the thematic focus on introspection, struggle, and resolution remained central to Aperco’s artistic identity. Aperco continues to be recognized for their cinematic approach to composition, their fusion of vintage and modern influences, and their commitment to narrative‑driven progressive rock.
