The name SUNTEARS may sound contradictory at first, and that contrast is exactly what drew brothers Andy and Marcus Fechner to it. The combination of “sun” and “tears” raises the question of what the words are meant to express. For them, the sun represents warmth, light and life itself. Tears, meanwhile, are not only linked to sadness — they can also be tears of joy or deep emotion. Their goal is to capture those meaningful moments of life in their music. As a result, the songs feel warm, melodic and full of vitality, often touched by a gentle sense of melancholy that completes the band’s sound. For many years, the Fechner brothers were responsible for the songwriting in their previous band, eleVate. With SUNTEARS, they are fulfilling a long‑held wish. They had written numerous songs over the years that never fully fit into eleVate’s rock‑oriented style, or only appeared as rare exceptions. SUNTEARS finally gives those pieces a home.
