Norah Jones

Norah Jones (born Geethali Norah Jones Shankar, March 30, 1979) is an American singer‑songwriter and musician. She has received numerous awards and, as of 2023, has sold more than 53 million records worldwide. Billboard named her the top jazz artist of the 2000s, and she has won ten Grammy Awards. She was also ranked 60th on Billboard’s Artists of the 2000s Decade chart. Jones launched her solo career in 2002 with the release of Come Away with Me, a blend of jazz, country, blues, folk and pop. The album was certified diamond, selling more than 27 million copies, making it one of the best‑selling albums of the 21st century. It earned her five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist, making her the first person of South Asian descent to win five Grammys in a single ceremony. Her subsequent studio albums — Feels Like Home (2004), Not Too Late (2007) and The Fall (2009) — all achieved platinum status and were generally well received by critics. She made her feature film acting debut in My Blueberry Nights (2007), directed by Wong Kar‑wai. Jones is the daughter of Indian sitarist and composer Ravi Shankar and is the half‑sister of musicians Anoushka Shankar and Shubhendra Shankar.
