Mystery (often stylized as MYSTERY) is a Canadian rock band formed in 1986 by multi‑instrumentalist Michel St‑Père. The band released their self‑titled debut EP in 1992, featuring Raymond and Gary Savoie on lead vocals. This was followed by their first full‑length album Theatre of the Mind in 1996 and Destiny? in 1998, both with Gary Savoie as lead vocalist. In 2007, Mystery released their third album Beneath the Veil of Winter’s Face, introducing singer Benoît David, who would go on to record two additional studio albums with the band: One Among the Living (2010) and The World Is a Game (2012). Their sixth album, Delusion Rain, arrived in 2015 and marked the debut of current vocalist Jean Pageau. This was followed by Lies and Butterflies in 2018 and Redemption, released on May 15, 2023. Mystery’s current line‑up consists of: Michel St‑Père, François Fournier (bass), Sylvain Moineau (guitar), Jean‑Sébastien Goyette (drums), Jean Pageau (vocals) and Antoine Michaud (keyboards). In 1986, while working as a sound engineer at Studio Illusion, Michel St‑Père founded Mystery together with keyboardist Sylvain Desharnais. The band was originally named Century, but the name was changed to Mystery at the suggestion of Desharnais’ girlfriend after discovering that a French band was already using the name Century.
