Flunk is a Norwegian electronic group featuring producer Ulf Nygaard, guitarist Jo Bakke, vocalist Anja Øyen Vister, and bassist Ole Kristian Wetten. Drummer Erik Ruud was part of the lineup from 2012 to 2020. Flunk began as a studio project between Nygaard and Bakke in Oslo around late 2000 and early 2001. Initially focused on instrumentals and sampled vocals, the duo submitted a track to Beatservice Records for a compilation in the winter of 2001. After hearing the finished piece, label manager Vidar Hanssen signed the still‑unnamed project for a full‑length album. Most of the debut album was recorded during the summer of 2001, with Vister improvising vocal parts and Bakke later adding guitar layers. Although the core material came together quickly, the album itself took another year to complete and release.
