Riverdogs

The Riverdogs are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1989. The group became known for blending melodic hard rock with blues‑influenced songwriting, and for featuring several musicians who would later gain prominence in other major acts. The original lineup included vocalist Rob Lamothe, guitarist Vivian Campbell, bassist Nick Brophy and drummer Marc Danzeisen. Campbell, already known for his work with Dio and Whitesnake, played on the band’s early recordings before departing to pursue other projects. After Campbell’s exit, Nick Brophy switched from bass to guitar, while Cary Beare joined as the new bassist. Campbell later returned to international prominence as a member of Def Leppard and Last in Line, while continuing to collaborate with Riverdogs on later projects. Several members of Riverdogs contributed to outside recordings: Rob Lamothe appeared as guest vocalist on “The River”, a track from former Badlands bassist Greg Chaisson’s solo album It’s About Time, Marc Danzeisen also contributed to It’s About Time, providing backing vocals and percussion, Kevin Gilbert played keyboards on the Riverdogs track “America” Both Lamothe and Campbell have pursued solo careers alongside their work with the band. After his time with Riverdogs, Marc Danzeisen joined Little Caesar in 1992 and later recorded and toured with Gilby Clarke of Guns N’ Roses in 1994. Danzeisen went on to establish himself as a respected studio drummer, producer and songwriter, contributing music to commercials, television and film. Nick Brophy continued working as both a bassist and guitarist across various Riverdogs‑related projects, while also developing a career in production and songwriting.
