Yasi Hofer

Yasi Hofer, born Yasmin Ines Hofer on 25 October 1992 in Ulm, is a German guitarist and singer known for her technical precision and expressive playing. She began her musical path on the violin before switching to electric guitar at the age of twelve. Her teacher introduced her to the music of Steve Vai, whose style she studied obsessively, often practicing up to ten hours a day. At fourteen she caught Vai’s attention, leading to an onstage performance with him at the Ulmer Zelt festival, followed by additional guest appearances across Europe. At fifteen she began formal music studies at the University of Music in Stuttgart, later continuing her education at Berklee College of Music. In 2008 she released her first EP, Sounds Like Vai, featuring five tracks recorded for the Ulm‑based label Heckmann Sounds.
